Facial yoga offers a gentle yet effective approach to combating the signs of aging without invasive procedures or expensive products. Originating in Japanese culture, where beauty rituals are deeply embedded in everyday life, facial yoga has been passed down through the generations as a natural means of maintaining a youthful appearance.

This practice focuses on specific facial exercises and massages designed to tone muscles, increase blood circulation and promote a healthy complexion.

Unlike conventional yoga that primarily targets the body’s muscles and joints, facial yoga perfects the complex network of muscles in the face, neck, and jaw. By engaging and strengthening these muscles, facial yoga enthusiasts believe that sagging skin can be tightened, wrinkles reduced, and a youthful appearance restored.

Three exercises that will help you regain your youthful appearance:

Exercise 1

Sit comfortably with a straight spine. Open your mouth wide, stretching your tongue towards your chin. At the same time, open your eyes and look up.

Hold this pose for a few seconds and then relax.

Repeat this exercise three to five times.

Exercise 2

Smile as wide as you can while keeping your lips closed.

Place your fingers on the top of your cheeks and gently lift the skin up. Hold for a few seconds, then release.

Repeat this exercise five to ten times.

Exercise 3

Tilt your head back slightly and look up at the ceiling. Push your lower jaw forward, feeling a stretch in the front of your neck.

Hold for a few seconds, then relax. Repeat this exercise five to ten times.
