“I will no longer buy a sports drink, and instead I will only drink liquid from pickles” – says the journalist who spent seven days doing research on how this liquid affects the overall health of a person.
Journalist Ileana Pauls Bronet for the portal Little Things  , decided to do research on the medicinal properties of the liquid from the pickles and to test what bodily changes she would feel after drinking it daily for a week.
We usually throw away the water from the pickles, and according to some research, it is a very medicinal liquid that brings many benefits to human health.
Ileana recounts how her boyfriend, after running a marathon, was given a post-race goodie bag, which included a t-shirt, snacks and a small bottle of pickle water.
She says she then started researching because she was interested in why runners were given these bottles.
Pickle water is believed to help relieve muscle cramps and soreness, allowing you to stay hydrated during exercise.
Because it does not contain sugar, it is excellent for weight loss, and due to the large number of free radicals, it is also excellent for cancer prevention.
It also regulates blood sugar and helps get rid of bad breath.
“To discover the benefits of drinking cucumber water, I decided to drink one small cup once a day,” she explains.
In the following, we convey her experience in its entirety:
Day one
I love to eat cucumbers, but I’m not going to lie – I was a little intimidated by the idea of drinking pickle liquid.
I honestly had to work up the courage to drink the small cup and I just stared at the green water for about 10 minutes before gulping it down.
I was pleasantly surprised because it didn’t taste bad – it tasted strong, but mostly salty. Although it is a highly acidic liquid, it did not taste sour at all.
Day Two
On the second day of my experiment, I had muscle pain due to my period, so I was hoping the liquid would help – as it is known to ease muscle pain.
By the end of the day I no longer had muscle cramps, although I don’t know if they were lost from the fluid, I just know that I felt lighter.
Third day
Already on the third day, drinking cucumber liquid was something completely normal for me.
After work, I had a barre class and let me tell you, I was expecting to have muscle cramps and pain like I always do.
The class was hard, as usual, and I believed that all my muscles would be sore the next day.
Day Four
I woke up expecting the sore muscles from the barre class, but I had no problems.
I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t feel bloated and I was so excited that I forgot to drink the liquid at the usual time.
I drank the liquid at the end of the day, but I think it caused some problems.
Day Five
Usually, the second day after I work out is the day I feel the most soreness in my muscles, but I still haven’t had any problems post-workout.
I don’t know if it was because I was drinking cucumber liquid, but I was really happy.
Drinking the liquid had already become the most normal thing for me, I didn’t need to muster up the courage to drink it.
Day six
This was the first time I drank pickle liquid at home and I felt very comfortable, but my boyfriend, who does not like pickles at all, was disgusted by the sight.
However, it didn’t run away from me when I tried to kiss it, so I believe the liquid does indeed freshen the breath, as many claim.
Day Seven
I was overjoyed because my experiment was over, not because I didn’t like the experience, but because I wanted to start just eating pickles like all normal people.
All in all, the experiment was a success, but I was happy to no longer carry a dosing cup with me everywhere I go.
I don’t know if the liquid helped me regulate my blood sugars or fight free radicals or lose weight, but I do know that it helped me get rid of muscle aches and bad breath.
The biggest benefits are those associated with exercise, so the next time I exercise instead of buying a sports drink, I’ll probably grab a cucumber water liquid.
